GomSpace and Terma have signed an MOU with the objective of developing a turn-key solution for an Asian project for monitoring and protecting the concerned country’s national waters, including its Economic Exclusion zone, against illegal fishing, pollution and other environmental damages.

The MOU outlines a contractual framework including activities within design, development, delivery, implementation, and sustainment of a turn-key surveillance solution. Terma will act as prime contractor and GomSpace will act as a subcontractor to Terma.

Carsten Drachmann, CEO at GomSpace comments: “I am very excited to enter this MOU with Terma. GomSpace’s strength in building small and efficient satellites for signal intelligence combined with Terma’s heritage and knowledge in both the space ground-segment and with C4ISR systems (Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance), gives us a strong advantage in offering a well-integrated solution for monitoring and protecting the customer country’s sovereign territory using satellite constellations”.

Thomas Rosenkilde Anderson, Executive Vice President at Terma, adds: “We are thrilled to join this mission with GomSpace and to take the role as prime contractor. This is in line with our growth strategy and building on our already strong presence in Asia with offices in Singapore and Jakarta. As Denmark’s leading defense and space company, Terma has a strong record of providing innovative technology to our customers worldwide, enabling our two companies to deliver a very strong market offering.”
