The Israel Missile Defense Organization (IMDO), in collaboration with Rafael Advanced Defense Systems, has successfully completed a series of interception tests for the Iron Dome air defence system. The campaign tested the system against a range of advanced threats, including rockets, cruise missiles, and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).

These tests incorporated operational lessons learned during the ongoing conflict and explored new capabilities to strengthen Israel’s multi-layered defence system. The results demonstrated a significant improvement in the Iron Dome’s ability to counter evolving regional threats more effectively.

First deployed in 2011, the Iron Dome has been a key component of Israel’s Air and Missile Defence Array, intercepting thousands of projectiles. During the current war, it has played a crucial role in protecting civilian populations and critical infrastructure from incoming threats.

The recent tests validated the system’s adaptability to high-intensity warfare conditions, with enhancements extending its effectiveness on both land and sea. The Iron Dome forms part of Israel’s broader defence network, which also includes the Arrow and David’s Sling systems.

According to Moshe Patel, Director of IMDO, the Iron Dome has proven its resilience under combat conditions, adapting to dynamic battlefield requirements. He emphasised that these latest advancements will further reinforce Israel’s defensive capabilities.

Rafael CEO Yoav Tourgeman described the test campaign as the largest and most advanced ever conducted for the Iron Dome. He credited Rafael’s engineers and technical teams for their expertise in developing solutions to counter future security challenges.
