KBR has been awarded a $229 million task order to support life cycle research and analysis for U.S. Army Cargo Helicopter Systems. The contract falls under the Department of Defense Information Analysis Center’s (DoDIAC) multiple-award contract (MAC) vehicle, with work set to take place in Huntsville, Alabama, over five years.

The task order was issued by the U.S. Air Force’s 774 Enterprise Sourcing Squadron, with the goal of enhancing the Defense Technical Information Center (DTIC) repository. KBR will focus on improving the availability, reliability, and cost-effectiveness of the CH-47 Chinook helicopter, which plays a crucial role in the Army’s transport and combat operations.

Under the contract, KBR will conduct research, assessments, and strategic analyses to enhance the helicopter’s maintainability, quality, and interoperability. The company will also provide logistics management, independent verification and validation, testing program management, and life cycle cost analysis to refine sustainability initiatives.

The CH-47 Chinook is a key asset in the U.S. Army’s fleet, supporting troop and cargo transport, medical evacuation, search and rescue, disaster relief, and combat operations. The contract also includes support for Foreign Military Sales (FMS) partners, ensuring that allied nations benefit from improved helicopter performance and cost efficiency.

By providing critical technical expertise and advanced support strategies, KBR aims to enhance the operational effectiveness and longevity of the CH-47 Chinook.
