The facility is intended to produce TNT for Finland and NATO and to support Finland’s long-term assistance to Ukraine. Oy Forcit Ab is responsible for both the investment and operation of the production plant.
“We decided to build the TNT production facility to meet the critical needs of Finland and NATO,” Defence Minister Antti Häkkänen said. “Strengthening our defence industrial base contributes to our overall defence and creates jobs as well as prosperity.”
Finland has also held discussions with its allies about participation in the project. “The financial support of the United States to this project is yet another demonstration of the deep defence cooperation between our countries,” Häkkänen said.
The project links Finnish defence industrial investment with allied financial support as the new facility moves towards future production. Its planned output is intended to serve Finnish and NATO requirements while enabling continued long-term support to Ukraine.
