Kratos Defense & Security Solutions has opened a 167,000-square-foot advanced manufacturing facility in York, Pennsylvania, expanding its industrial footprint in the state. The company said its Pennsylvania operations now span three facilities and employ more than 440 people.

Kratos also plans to invest more than $7 million in new manufacturing equipment to increase production capacity. The expansion is intended to support growing demand for military-grade hardware used in hypersonic, air defense, missile, radar and counter-unmanned aircraft system programs.

The company said its Pennsylvania operations engineer, manufacture and test mission-critical hardware for national security programs. The new site will support advanced manufacturing, systems integration and testing for equipment including directed energy weapons, missile transporters, mobile missile launchers, hypersonic systems and strategic radar platforms.

“This new Kratos facility and investment will both expand and accelerate our capabilities in additional mission critical national security programs, including strategic systems”, said Tom Mills, President of Kratos C5ISR Division. Kratos said the facility follows recent work supporting High Power Microwave and High Energy Laser programs.

“This expansion marks another important milestone in continuing to grow Kratos’ capability to provide mil-spec hardware for national defense and mission critical programs,” said Eric DeMarco, President and CEO of Kratos. He said Pennsylvania had proved to be “an exceptional manufacturing hub” with a highly skilled workforce.

Kratos said the investment will help it scale production while meeting customer requirements for speed, affordability and performance. The company described the expansion as part of its broader commitment to strengthening the U.S. defense industrial base and delivering warfighter-ready capabilities.
