The company will supply its Integrated Platform Management System for the frigates. The system is designed to improve ship performance, operational reliability and onboard safety.
The Miecznik-class frigates are based on the Arrowhead 140 design developed by Babcock International. The vessels are intended to modernize the Polish Navy and expand operational capabilities.
“Miecznik-class frigates, powered by L3Harris’ IPMS, represent the future of maritime defence, providing Poland with superior combat power and a strategic edge in regional waters,” said Nino DiCosmo, president of Maritime, Space & Mission Systems at L3Harris. “Our next-generation solution strengthens Poland’s defence industrial capabilities while enabling the fleet to extend operational range and endurance.”
L3Harris said the IPMS incorporates capabilities developed through cooperation with several allied navies. These include the Royal Navy, Royal Netherlands Navy, Royal Australian Navy and Royal Canadian Navy.
The company stated that it has delivered IPMS technology to nearly 300 vessels across 28 navies worldwide. The system has been continuously upgraded since its introduction.
According to L3Harris, the IPMS is designed to enhance situational awareness and operational efficiency aboard the new frigates. The technology is also intended to support ship safety during operations.
The Miecznik programme represents a key modernization effort for the Polish Navy. The addition of the L3Harris system is intended to strengthen the operational capabilities of Poland’s future surface fleet.
