The creation of Astris AI reflects Lockheed Martin’s significant investments in AI and machine learning (ML). The subsidiary will provide access to the company’s proprietary AI Factory Machine Learning Operations (MLOps) and generative AI platforms. Designed with security and compliance in mind, these tools are built for organisations operating in heavily regulated environments.
Astris AI is set to address the challenges faced by industries in scaling AI solutions, particularly in terms of reliability, cost, and speed of deployment. Its open-architecture approach allows for modular and adaptable solutions, ensuring clients remain competitive in a rapidly evolving technological landscape. The platform’s flexibility is expected to deliver both technological and cost advantages for customers.
In addition to technology, Astris AI offers comprehensive consultative engineering services. These include AI strategy development, implementation, training, and large-scale model deployment. The goal is to empower organisations to independently manage their AI tools, data, and solutions while maintaining security and resilience.
The global shortage of skilled AI professionals has been a significant barrier for companies looking to implement advanced AI technologies. Astris AI aims to bridge this gap by leveraging Lockheed Martin’s expert team of AI engineers. These specialists will offer domain-specific knowledge, along with technical and consulting support, to accelerate AI adoption.
The subsidiary will draw on the expertise of Lockheed Martin’s AI Factory ecosystem, with leadership provided by seasoned professionals. Greg Forrest, Director of AI Foundations, emphasised the importance of Astris AI’s mission: “Lockheed Martin has made significant strides in AI/ML, and we’re excited to apply these advancements to support our customers and help strengthen the defence industrial base.”
Donna O’Donnell, Astris AI’s Chief Revenue Officer, brings extensive experience in AI/ML and automation to her role. Previously holding senior leadership positions at Xerox and other technology firms, O’Donnell is well-positioned to lead Astris AI’s growth. “By combining Lockheed Martin’s expertise with Astris AI’s agile approach, we’re enabling organisations to navigate the complexities of the rapidly evolving technology landscape,” she said.
