By Defence Industry Europe

On May 18, the United States Department of Defense announced it has signed a contract with American industry giant Lockheed Martin for JASSM-ER (Joint Air-to-Surface Standoff Missile B-2) cruise missiles.

According to the announcement, the contract is valued at USD 750.5 million, covering not only the missiles but also tooling and equipment, as well as spares.

As part of the contract, a portion of the JASSM-ER missiles, valued at USD 7.8 million, will be delivered to Australia through the Foreign Military Sales (FMS) procedure. In July 2022, the United States Department of State approved the sale of 80 JASSM-ER missiles to Australia, with a maximum estimated price of USD 235 million.

However, the majority of the missiles produced under this contract will be supplied to the United States Air Force. The contract is expected to be concluded by mid-August 2027.
