A pan-European consortium led by MBDA France has been established to respond to the EDF-2026-DA-ACC-AIRDEF-EATMI tender. The tender, also known as EATMI 2, covers an endo-atmospheric counter-hypersonic and anti-ballistic interceptor.

The HYDIS2dp programme aims to reach Technology Readiness Level 5 in less than two years. It also targets a Preliminary Design Review by 2029 and a fully representative system demonstrator flight by 2030.

The programme is intended to support rapid maturation and de-risking towards full system validation. MBDA said the effort addresses the need to defend Europe against the hypersonic threat.

The new team is formed around project coordinator MBDA France. It builds on the current HYDIS effort and adds new participants.

The consortium brings together up to 28 partners and 20 subcontractors. They are drawn from 18 participating European states.

The HYDIS2dp consortium is supported by seven funding countries. MBDA said each partner brings European expertise in its field of action.

The team combines experience in missile defence with an innovative approach. MBDA said the consortium represents European scientific, technological, academic and industrial expertise for a strategic defence capability.
