Northrop Grumman said its AN/TPS-80 Ground/Air Task-Oriented Radar, known as G/ATOR, provides real-time 360-degree situational awareness against multiple threats at long range. The company said the system is proven and ready to meet emerging radar needs worldwide.

More than 40 G/ATOR systems have been delivered to the United States Marine Corps and United States Air Force. Northrop Grumman said it is delivering a total of 60 systems to the two services through 2029.

G/ATOR is a five-in-one, 360-degree Active Electronically Scanned Array fire control radar. The company said the system is designed for an evolving battlespace and combines multiple missions in one mobile platform.

Northrop Grumman said the radar provides rapid detection and tracking for battlefield awareness and fire control. It can detect, identify, track and cue responses to airborne threats.

The company said G/ATOR can carry out air surveillance, air defence, fire control and other missions simultaneously. It is designed to operate in all weather conditions.

Northrop Grumman said the system’s rapid tracking and cueing capabilities enable quick responses to airborne threats. These include emerging threats such as uncrewed systems.

The radar is designed for rapid deployment, allowing forces to set it up or pack it up quickly as battlefield conditions change. It is lightweight and compact, and can be transported by plane, helicopter or truck.

G/ATOR is in full-rate production. Northrop Grumman said it has capacity to expand production to meet increasing demand for ground radar systems worldwide.

The company said the radar reduces logistical complexity by combining five radar functions into one mobile system. It said this enables warfighters to focus on mission execution.

Northrop Grumman described G/ATOR as a next-generation battlefield situational awareness system. The company said its multi-mission capability and tactical agility are intended to provide an operational edge in complex and dynamic security environments.
