The agreement includes the current ECPINS version and future upgrades to ECPINS 7, ensuring compliance with the latest NATO WECDIS STANAG 4564 Edition 3 standards. OSI will also provide multi-year in-service support as part of the contract, ensuring seamless operation of the navigation systems.
The RSN operates a fleet of four diesel-electric submarines, including three Gotland-class (A19) vessels and one Södermanland-class (A17) submarine, from its base in Karlskrona. OSI’s ECPINS is globally recognised for its advanced subsurface navigation capabilities and is already deployed by naval forces in Sweden, the UK, Australia, Canada, and other allied nations.
Ken Kirkpatrick, President and CEO of OSI Maritime Systems, highlighted the importance of the contract. “To have ECPINS deployed fleetwide on the Royal Swedish Navy’s submarines strongly endorses OSI’s cutting-edge navigation technology. The waters in which Swedish submarines operate are among the harshest, requiring the best in navigation,” he said.
Jim Davison, OSI’s Vice President of Business Development, emphasised the system’s capabilities. “Dived navigation is a demanding task. ECPINS has digitised traditional dived navigation methodologies, creating the most trusted suite of dived functionality available in a WECDIS application,” he stated.
