Patria expands with acquisition of Nordic Drones and WithSecure businesses

By Defence Industry Europe

Finnish defence company Patria has successfully completed the acquisition of two businesses as part of its growth strategy. These acquisitions, announced earlier in 2024, include drone manufacturer Nordic Drones Oy and an open-source data collection product from cybersecurity firm WithSecure.

The acquisitions, which required approval from Finland’s Ministry of Employment and the Economy (TEM), have now cleared the necessary regulatory processes. Both transactions officially took effect on 1 October 2024.

Nordic Drones, based in Muurame, Finland, is a leading producer of professional drone systems and training solutions for over 100 companies and organisations. The firm, which employs 10 people, has specialised in drone systems for aerial photography, mapping, and inspection services, and is an established partner for Nordic security authorities. Patria views this acquisition as a key step in expanding its unmanned systems solutions.

The value of the acquisitions has not been disclosed, and Patria confirmed that there will be no impact on customer commitments, employment, or other business relationships following the transfers.
