The NATO Military Committee (NAMILCOM) has approved the latest version of the mobile encryption solution Sectra Tiger/S 7401 LTE from international cybersecurity and medical imaging IT company Sectra. This approval, which applies to the classification level NATO SECRET, certifies that Sectra Tiger/S securely supports NATO officials in the exchange of classified information.

Sectra Tiger/S is a quantum-resilient mobile phone, allowing the user to share sensitive information up to and including the classification level NATO SECRET through encrypted speech, messaging and data transfer. The latest version includes support for all fixed and mobile 4G networks as well as improved robustness and sound quality. The new features provide improved availability, while also enhancing the user experience and potential use cases. Sectra Tiger/S is used by a large number of user organizations across many EU and NATO countries.

“The need for secure and robust communication systems with high availability is greater than ever before. A quantum-resilient solution is therefore a necessity for our NATO customers to uphold their digital sovereignty. This approval confirms that our latest version of Sectra Tiger/S withstands today’s and future threats,” says Jeroen de Muijnck, Managing Director of Sectra Communications BV.

Quantum computers will have the capability to perform certain types of calculations much more efficiently than today’s computers. Such computers could thus pose a threat to current encryption methods, and quantum-resilient solutions are therefore perceived to be one of the key traits of future-proof confidentiality. The latest version of Sectra Tiger/S is also approved by the Dutch security authority and the EU for use up to and including the classification level SECRET.
