The Canadian Commercial Corporation (CCC) has been awarded a contract by the United States Department of War to supply replacement components for Rheinmetall Canada’s MSU-200NAV aircraft ground support system. The equipment is used by the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps to start aircraft engines while they are on the ground.

Under the contract, Rheinmetall Canada will provide the Naval Air Warfare Center with replacements for two key MSU-200NAV components. These are the starter, which initiates turbine operation, and the Full Authority Digital Engine Control, or FADEC, which manages turbine performance, sequencing and safety.

Rheinmetall Canada is based in Ottawa and has supported the development, modernisation and sustainment of the MSU-200NAV for more than two decades. CCC said the company has deep engineering expertise in aerospace ground support technologies and a record of providing systems to U.S. and allied defence customers.

The contract keeps Rheinmetall Canada involved in maintaining a system used for aircraft ground support by U.S. naval aviation forces. CCC said the work will help ensure the MSU-200NAV continues to meet the operational requirements of international customers.

CCC is the designated contracting authority for U.S. Department of War purchases from Canada valued at USD $350,000 or more. Through its free U.S. DoD Prime Contractor service, CCC enables Canadian companies such as Rheinmetall Canada to deliver Canadian-made solutions to the U.S. Department of War.

The agency acts as Canada’s government-to-government contracting organisation. CCC said it helps build commercial relationships between Canadian businesses and foreign governments through its government-to-government contracting approach.
