The TESS contract is designed to enhance resilience through the UK-based supply chain, supporting up to 2,400 jobs across the country. This initiative aims to sustain vital skills crucial to the Royal Air Force’s current air capabilities and future developments, including the Global Combat Air Programme (GCAP).
Most of the maintenance work will take place at Rolls-Royce’s UK Defence headquarters in Bristol. The site, known for its research, development, and manufacturing of military power and propulsion systems, plays a key role in shaping the next generation of aircraft technology.
Rolls-Royce highlighted that 80% of technologies developed for future combat programmes, such as GCAP, have potential applications in the civil sector. This dual-use capability showcases how defence investments can enhance the UK’s competitiveness across multiple industries.
