Saab has received a SEK 1.3 billion order to develop a new flight control computer for Gripen fighter aircraft. Sweden’s Defence Materiel Administration, known as FMV, placed the order, with deliveries planned during 2030.

The computer will replace the current version. It is designed to meet long-term requirements for availability, performance and security of supply.

“We look forward to continuing our close collaboration with FMV. The new flight control computer will contribute to Gripen’s capability and performance for decades to come,” said Marcus Wandt, head of Saab’s Aeronautics business area.

The computer is a central component of Gripen’s flight control system and supports safe, precise manoeuvring. Saab will develop the replacement in close cooperation with FMV.
