Saab secures Swedish urder for AUV62-MR Autonomous Underwater Vehicles

By Defence Industry Europe

Swedish defence technology company Saab has signed a contract with the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV) to deliver AUV62-MR autonomous underwater vehicles. These vehicles are designed to enhance mine countermeasure missions, offering advanced capabilities for detecting and mapping the seabed over extensive areas.

The AUV62-MR provides high-resolution sonar imaging and covert reconnaissance capabilities, enabling naval forces to operate with reduced risk to personnel and fewer resources. Its advanced design allows for simultaneous task execution, making it a critical tool for modern naval operations.

“We are very proud to have been entrusted by FMV to deliver AUV62-MR,” said Mats Wicksell, head of Saab’s business area Kockums. “In addition to strengthening existing mine countermeasures capabilities, these systems will be an important part of the Navy’s work towards future mine countermeasures capabilities.”
