Acting as prime system integrator, the company supplied a mix of fixed and deployable trainers for the Australian Army’s M1A2 Abrams SEPv3 main battle tank fleet. Deliveries were phased throughout 2025, followed by final system acceptance and the closure of the acquisition project in the fourth quarter.
The ITT combines tactical crew, gunnery and driver training within a single high-fidelity platform. It allows complete tank crews to conduct advanced mission rehearsals while reducing reliance on costly live-fire activity and limiting demands on operational vehicles and sustainment resources.
“The successful delivery of the Abrams Immersive Tactical Trainers under LAND 907 Armoured Combat marks a significant milestone for Army capability and industry partnership,” Major General Jason Blain, Head of Land Systems Division, said. “These simulators showcase Australian innovation and enable full crew training in a high-fidelity environment, enhancing readiness while reducing the burden on platforms and sustainment resources.”
Thomas Global said the trainers have expanded the Army’s capacity to prepare Abrams operators and crews for modern combat. The systems are expected to provide more than 2,500 additional training hours during 2026 as the programme settles into its sustainment phase.

The completed acquisition gives the Australian Army a unified training system spanning individual operating skills and full-crew mission rehearsals. Thomas Global will remain responsible for sustaining all 16 trainers following their acceptance into service.
