Tiberius Aerospace has signed a Cooperative Research and Development Agreement with the U.S. Army’s DEVCOM Armaments Center. The agreement will support further development and maturation of the company’s Sceptre precision-guided 155 mm artillery munition.

The CRADA establishes a framework for jointly agreed research and technical activities related to the Sceptre program. Such agreements allow the Army to work with industry on technologies of shared interest.

Sceptre uses a liquid-fueled ramjet that provides sustained propulsion throughout flight. Tiberius designed the projectile to exceed Mach 3, climb above 65,000 feet and reach targets up to 150 kilometers away.

The company is targeting accuracy within five meters, including in GPS-denied environments. The munition can be fired from NATO-standard 155 mm howitzers without a new launcher or dedicated firing platform.

Sceptre’s propulsion system can use diesel, JP-4 and JP-8 military fuels. Tiberius said this approach could reduce storage and sustainment demands by using existing battlefield fuel supplies.

The projectile was designed as a software-defined weapon with a modular open architecture. That design supports upgrades to guidance, targeting, autonomy and mission software throughout its service life.

Sceptre will connect with GRAIL, Tiberius Aerospace’s artificial intelligence-powered weapons development platform. GRAIL links operational requirements with engineering, testing and federated manufacturing to support continuous system updates.

In April 2026, Tiberius launched a liquid-fueled ramjet from a NATO-standard 155 mm howitzer. The company described the event as the first demonstration of its kind.

Previous testing validated the projectile under launch forces of about 16,000 g. The company has also demonstrated fin deployment and stable aerodynamic flight.

The agreement expands Tiberius Aerospace’s work with the U.S. Department of Defense. It also advances a program combining sustained propulsion, precision guidance, open architecture and AI-supported development.
