Oshkosh Defense has received two delivery orders from the U.S. Marine Corps for ROGUE-Fires Block 2 production. The orders for the Remotely Operated Ground Unit for Expeditionary Fires have a combined value of $92 million.

ROGUE-Fires is built on the Oshkosh Defense Joint Light Tactical Vehicle. The company said the platform combines next-generation autonomy with the protection, mobility, speed and off-road capability Marines need in austere environments.

Oshkosh said the JLTV provides a proven foundation for expeditionary fires missions and distributed operations. The vehicle’s transportability, operational interoperability and existing sustainment support are central to that role.

Oshkosh Defense was first awarded the ROGUE-Fires contract in 2022. The company said the platform has since become the first semi-autonomous ground system fielded by the U.S. military.

ROGUE-Fires is also described by the company as the only in-production and fielded semi-autonomous ground system for offensive and defensive fires. The Block 2 configuration adds Forterra’s next-generation autonomy and expanded weapon system integration.

The new configuration is intended to support Expeditionary Advanced Base Operations and distributed long-range precision fires missions. Oshkosh said the update gives the Marine Corps greater flexibility as it modernizes its force structure and operational capabilities.

“As the Marine Corps continues to modernize its force structure and operational capabilities, Oshkosh remains focused on delivering advanced ground mobility solutions that support mission success,” said Pat Williams, Chief Programs Officer at Oshkosh Defense.

“With new technology integration and expanded weapon system flexibility, ROGUE-Fires Block 2 demonstrates Oshkosh’s ability to integrate advanced technologies onto proven tactical vehicles,” Williams said.

ROGUE-Fires uses a Modular Open System Approach. Oshkosh said this architecture now supports integration with the MLRS Family of Munitions and allows rapid swapping of future payload weapon systems based on mission requirements.

The company said the modular design provides Marines with greater operational flexibility across evolving expeditionary fires missions and other applications. Forterra’s AutoDrive autonomous driving system is designed to support operations in contested and GPS-denied environments.

Vehicle deliveries under the contract are expected to continue through 2031. Oshkosh said the award expands the Marine Corps’ autonomous fires capability and supports future distributed operations.
