U.S. Navy to award sole-source EAGLS C-UAS contract to MSI Defense Solutions

By Defence Industry Europe

The United States Navy plans to modify an existing contract with MSI Defense Solutions, LLC, for the Electronic Advanced Ground Launcher System (EAGLS) counter-unmanned aerial system (C-UAS).

A notice on the US government procurement portal SAM.gov indicates that the Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) Direct and Time Sensitive Strike Programme intends to issue a sole-source contract modification to the company.

This modification encompasses EAGLS C-UAS testing, initial spares, support equipment, engineering and technical support, maintenance support, and Field Service Representative (FSR) system support. It includes maintenance, training, technical consultation, advisory services, and the development and updating of technical manuals and associated support.

The notice states that the government plans to negotiate exclusively with MSI Defense for this contract modification. It justifies this by noting that MSI Defense is the sole designer, developer, manufacturer, and integrator of the EAGLS C-UAS, making it uniquely qualified to meet the government’s requirements efficiently and cost-effectively.

In August 2024, MSI Defense delivered six EAGLS C-UAS systems to the U.S. Army under a contract awarded through the Rapid Acquisition Authority (RAA).
