U.S. Marine Corps awards additional contract to Saab for Live Training Systems

By Defence Industry Europe

Saab has received a contract modification from the U.S. Marine Corps for additional Marine Corps Training Instrumentation Systems (MCTIS) equipment. The order, valued at USD 37 million (SEK 375 million), will see deliveries take place between 2025 and 2027.

The contract ensures that the U.S. Marine Corps will continue to implement Saab’s deployable and expeditionary MCTIS capability. This advanced live training solution enhances combat readiness by providing Marines with realistic, immersive training environments.

MCTIS focuses on refining tactics, techniques, and procedures while supporting joint exercises with NATO allies. The system enables Marines to develop battlefield skills through interoperable and data-driven training scenarios.

Erik Smith, President and CEO of Saab in the U.S., expressed pride in continuing the company’s partnership with the Marine Corps. He emphasised that the system enhances decision-making, improves performance, and ultimately helps save American lives.

Saab has been collaborating with the U.S. Marine Corps since securing an initial contract in June 2021. The MCTIS programme represents a shift from the previous Instrumentation and Tactical Engagement Simulation System II (ITESS-II), marking a new phase in Marine Corps training capabilities.
