By Defence Industry Europe

A U.S. Air Force B-52H Stratofortress flew over Oslo, Norway, in a coordinated low-pass alongside two Royal Norwegian Air Force F-35 Lightning IIs. The flight was part of the Bomber Task Force (BTF) 25-2 mission, known as TOWER BLOCKHOUSE, aimed at strengthening NATO interoperability.

The flyover highlighted the close military partnership between the United States and Norway, particularly in maintaining security in the Arctic region. U.S. Air Force Lt. Col. Kendall Smith, Bomber Task Force chief for U.S. Air Forces in Europe – Air Forces Africa, described the mission as a demonstration of “peace through strength”, reinforcing shared values between the nations.

Bomber Task Force operations provide essential training opportunities, allowing U.S. strategic bombers to integrate with Allied air forces. These missions enhance coordination and readiness, ensuring effective joint operations in defence of NATO territories.

TOWER BLOCKHOUSE is the twelfth operation completed under the current Bomber Task Force deployment. The continued presence of U.S. strategic bombers in Europe underscores the commitment to regional stability and deterrence against potential threats.
