A robust missile defence system is also being developed to protect Ukrainian cities from ongoing attacks. Investments in this sector throughout 2024 have already yielded significant battlefield results, including the scaling up of domestic cruise missile production.
Ukraine has successfully completed the development and testing of ballistic and cruise missiles, expanding its ability to strike distant targets. Additionally, efforts are underway to establish joint production of surface-to-air missile (SAM) systems with international defence partners.
In 2025, the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine will continue focusing on advanced long-range weaponry, including ballistic and cruise missiles designed to deter aggression. The country also aims to develop its own missile defence system, with capabilities comparable to leading global models.
Key developments include the production of critical missile defence components, advanced anti-aircraft missile system controls, and increased cooperation with Western defence firms. Ongoing negotiations with international partners seek to secure additional foreign-made systems to enhance Ukraine’s air defence capabilities.
To oversee these projects, Ukraine established the Department of Missile Weaponry and Missile Defence Systems Development in 2024. This initiative integrates modern technology, Ukrainian expertise, and allied support to create effective combat solutions.
The Ministry of Defence of Ukraine remains open to collaboration with businesses, scientists, and international partners. Through joint efforts, Ukraine aims to strengthen its missile capabilities and reinforce its defence against aerial threats in the coming years.
