U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) conducted precision airstrikes on 21 December targeting a missile storage facility and a command-and-control centre operated by Iran-backed Houthi forces in Sana’a, Yemen. The operation aimed to disrupt Houthi activities, including attacks on U.S. Navy warships and merchant vessels in the Southern Red Sea, Bab al-Mandeb, and the Gulf of Aden.

During the mission, CENTCOM forces also intercepted and destroyed multiple Houthi one-way attack uncrewed aerial vehicles (OWA UAVs) and an anti-ship cruise missile (ASCM) over the Red Sea.

The operation utilised advanced U.S. Air Force and Navy assets, including F/A-18 fighter jets, to execute the strikes.

“These strikes reflect CENTCOM’s ongoing commitment to protect U.S. and coalition personnel, regional partners, and international shipping,” CENTCOM stated. By targeting key Houthi facilities, the operation seeks to degrade their operational capabilities and deter further threats to maritime security in the region.
