Baykar’s Bayraktar TB3 unmanned combat aerial vehicle demonstrated an anti submarine warfare capability during the Seawolf I 2026 exercise while operating from TCG Anadolu. The aircraft successfully released two sonobuoys using Baykar’s indigenously developed Sonobuoy Dispenser System, known as SAS POD, and conducted the mission in coordination with a maritime patrol aircraft.

The exercise is taking place simultaneously in the Black Sea, Sea of Marmara, Aegean Sea and Eastern Mediterranean between 20 and 25 September 2026. Units from the Naval, Land, Air and Coast Guard Commands are participating, with the event being used to demonstrate the capabilities of indigenous platforms.

As part of the anti submarine warfare scenario, the Bayraktar TB3 operated alongside a maritime patrol aircraft in the mission area. During the flight, it released two sonobuoys into the sea from the SAS POD mounted under its wing.

The mission also tested the aircraft’s ability to process and integrate information from multiple sonobuoy sources. Using its onboard sonobuoy processing unit, the Bayraktar TB3 handled data from both the buoys it had deployed itself and those released by the maritime patrol aircraft.

Baykar said the aircraft also successfully provided a real time display of the underwater data collected during the exercise. The demonstration combined sonobuoy deployment, onboard data processing and coordinated operations with a maritime patrol aircraft within the Seawolf I 2026 scenario.
