The flight reached a top speed of Mach 0.93 despite unfavourable tailwinds. Bombardier said the result was 2.2% faster than the previous record for the same city pair.
The Canadian company describes the Global 8000 as the world’s fastest civil aircraft. It lists the aircraft with a top speed of Mach 0.95 and a range of 8,000 nautical miles.
The aircraft flew to Farnborough to demonstrate its performance during the airshow. Bombardier said the Global 8000 will take part in aerial displays throughout the week.
The record gives Bombardier a high-profile performance marker for the aircraft’s public debut. It also supports the company’s positioning of the Global 8000 around speed, range and airport access.

Bombardier said the Global 8000 is designed to carry passengers faster and farther from more locations. The company is using Farnborough to highlight the aircraft’s speed record and broader performance profile.
