CENTCOM conducts Bomber Task Force mission in the Middle East

By Defence Industry Europe

U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) carried out a Bomber Task Force mission in the Middle East on 17 February, showcasing its force projection capabilities. Two B-52 bombers took off from RAF Fairford in the United Kingdom, flying across Europe and through nine partner nations in CENTCOM’s area of responsibility.

The mission involved aerial refuelling and live munitions drops at designated ranges in several partner countries. Throughout the flight, U.S. F-15 fighter jets and aircraft from four partner nations provided escort support to the bombers.

General Michael Erik Kurilla, CENTCOM commander, emphasised the significance of these operations in demonstrating U.S. military readiness. He stated that such missions reinforce regional security and highlight America’s ability to respond to emerging threats from state or non-state actors.

Bomber Task Force missions are a routine part of U.S. military strategy, ensuring sustained operational presence and cooperation with allied nations. CENTCOM continues to conduct these exercises to enhance stability and deter potential conflicts in the region.
