The facility will manufacture both small and large-calibre ammunition, supporting Denmark’s armed forces and contributing to NATO’s overall readiness. The project is also expected to create jobs and generate economic value within Denmark’s defence industry.
Nammo has been working to improve ammunition standardisation across the Nordic region, including Denmark, to increase interoperability among allied forces. The re-establishment of production in Denmark will further enhance this effort, ensuring a more resilient and flexible supply chain.
“We are honoured by this selection and the confidence placed in us,” said Morten Brandtzæg, President & CEO of Nammo AS. “Nammo has the industrial and technical expertise, established supply chains, and strong Norwegian-Finnish ownership to become a long-term partner for Denmark.”
Nammo and Danish authorities are now working to finalise the agreement, with plans to begin production as soon as possible. The decision reflects growing European efforts to strengthen domestic defence manufacturing in response to evolving security challenges.
