Fokker Services Group selected for modification of Embraer C-390M aircraft

By Defence Industry Europe

Fokker Services Group (FSG), an independent aerospace service provider, announced at the NIDV Exhibition Defence & Security (NEDS) that it has been chosen by Embraer Defense & Security to deliver a comprehensive modification package for nine C-390M military aircraft. The contract encompasses engineering, certification, and modification services, enabling the aircraft to perform NATO tactical transport missions and support Special Operations.

The modifications will equip the C-390M fleet for a wide range of military and humanitarian operations, creating the most advanced version of the aircraft to date. “We are delighted with our continued cooperation and partnership with Embraer and look forward to making this Defence & Security agreement a success,” said Menzo van der Beek and Roland van Dijk, co-CEOs of FSG.

This announcement follows a joint procurement deal between the Netherlands and Austria for nine C-390M aircraft, five of which will be operated by the Royal Netherlands Air Force (RNLAF) and four by the Austrian Air Force. Since its launch in 2019, the C-390M has been recognised for its performance, mission flexibility, and innovative features.

FSG has extensive experience in aircraft modifications and conversions, including supporting military aircraft such as the F-16 and NH-90 helicopters. The company recently opened a joint hangar facility with the RNLAF in Woensdrecht for maintaining RNLAF assets and delivered a Gulfstream G550 modified for special missions earlier this year.

Robert Koolen, Sales Director Aircraft Conversions & Completions at FSG, commented: “The experience on highly sophisticated NATO modifications, combined with our capabilities in engineering, interiors, and structural work, strengthens our position as a partner of choice for NATO, United Nations, and other organisations. FSG is honoured to contribute to projects that support peacekeeping, security, and humanitarian aid.”
