The Bundestag’s Budget Committee approved both purchases on 14 October 2026. Germany’s defence procurement agency, BAAINBw, said the Patriot contract covers complete fire units, service support and spare-parts packages.
Each fire unit includes a radar, command post, several launchers and supporting equipment such as power supplies. The replacements will replenish systems provided to Ukraine to defend against Russia’s invasion.
The new repair equipment can be transported and operated on trucks already in Bundeswehr service. BAAINBw said the containerised design would improve mobility and allow maintenance teams to deploy more flexibly.
“Thanks to the very good cooperation of everyone involved in the project, this replacement procurement, which is extremely important for the troops, can now be set in motion,” said BAAINBw project manager Rainer F. “In addition, the procurement of the operational containers forms a core element in renewing the repair equipment of the air defence missile units.”
