Granta Autonomy to supply Lithuanian and Ukrainian forces with GA-10FPV-AI drones

By Defence Industry Europe

Lithuanian drone innovator Granta Autonomy has announced a EUR 1 million contract with the Lithuanian Ministry of National Defence to supply its GA-10FPV-AI quadcopter drones. The unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) will be provided to both the Lithuanian military and Ukrainian armed forces as part of a larger €8 million defence procurement initiative. This programme involves several Lithuanian drone manufacturers and aims to deliver over 2,300 drones to Lithuania and nearly 5,000 to Ukraine.

The first shipments of drones are expected to reach Ukraine by the end of September, with all units set for delivery by the year’s end.

Granta Autonomy’s founder and CEO, Gediminas Guoba, hailed the contract as a significant milestone for the company. “Our drones are already proving their effectiveness on Ukrainian battlefields, and we are ramping up production to fulfil this new contract by the end of the year. We are also actively pursuing additional opportunities with the Lithuanian Government and other NATO partners,” said Guoba.

He further emphasised the broader impact of the partnership, noting, “Lithuania’s commitment to supporting Ukraine not only strengthens its role in global security but also showcases our country’s leadership in drone technology.”

The GA-10FPV-AI, the latest addition to Granta Autonomy’s mini-UAV portfolio, is a versatile first-person-view drone designed for a range of operations. Equipped with vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) capabilities, the drone can carry payloads of up to 3 kg. Its autonomous features enable it to function even in radio silence or GNSS-denied environments. The system also includes a ground control station with FPV goggles, controller, and various other equipment, making it highly adaptable for diverse missions.

Founded in 2015 by former Lithuanian military engineers Gediminas Guoba and Laurynas Litvinas, Granta Autonomy has quickly grown into a key player in drone technology. The company secured EUR 1 million in seed funding in July 2024 from investors including ScaleWolf VC, Brolis Defence, and HFL Holdings, allowing it to accelerate the development of its innovative drones, micro gimbals, and Datalink software, all of which have been tested on the frontlines in Ukraine.

This contract is part of Lithuania’s broader strategy to support Ukraine and enhance its own defence capabilities, while fostering domestic innovation in cutting-edge drone technology.
