Under the terms of the agreement, Hanwha Aerospace will supply Poland with “several thousand” precision munitions, including 239mm precision missiles with an 80km range and tactical ballistic missiles with an up to 290km range.
The South Korean firm is collaborating closely with the Polish defence sector. All launchers will be mounted on wheeled chassis produced by Jelcz, a Polish manufacturer.
Moreover, the K239 Chunmoo MLRS units of the Polish Armed Forces will be outfitted with a Polish command and control (C2) system. This system, developed by the Polish WB Group, includes the TOPAZ Integrated Combat Management System, the FONET Digital Communication Platform, and radio communication sets.
Robert Szelenbaum, a senior manager at Hanwha Aerospace Europe – a European branch of Hanwha Aerospace headquartered in Warsaw, Poland – stated that the Polish Armed Forces have already received 18 K239 Chunmoo launchers. Another 36 systems are anticipated to be delivered by the end of 2024. Between 2025 and 2026, the Polish Armed Forces are expected to receive a total of 144 launchers.
