L3Harris says mission-networking demonstration connected dispersed U.S. Army formations for threat sensing, data sharing and response

L3Harris Technologies said it demonstrated an integrated mission network that connected threat detection, joint-force communications and coordinated battlefield response during the U.S. Army’s Lightning Surge exercises. The systems allowed soldiers to collect, distribute and act on information across dispersed formations.

The demonstration focused on moving battlefield data between units quickly enough to support operational decisions. L3Harris said its communications technology enabled information gathered in one part of the force to be shared and used elsewhere.

“Today’s battlefield demands more than reliable communications – it requires the ability to transform information into actionable decisions at the speed of relevance,” said Chris Aebli, President, Communications & Spectrum Dominance, L3Harris. “These Lightning Surge exercises demonstrate how L3Harris is delivering integrated capabilities that help commanders see the battlefield as it is and will be in multi-domain operations.”

The work supports the Army’s shift toward distributed operations and data-driven command and control. The service previously selected L3Harris as an NGC2 transport-layer provider, giving the company a role in connecting elements of the emerging network.

L3Harris said its systems are designed to adapt as operational conditions change. Those capabilities include Wraith Shield, a new software enhancement within the company’s communications portfolio.
