Lockheed Martin Ventures added a new group of portfolio companies during 2026. Their technologies cover several areas that the company considers relevant to future defense production and operations.
The company brought 18 portfolio businesses and emerging startups together for its ninth annual Ventures Demo Day. The two-day event connected them with Lockheed Martin executives, technical specialists and customers.
Participants demonstrated technologies ranging from software-defined foundry systems to detonation-engine propulsion. Technical sessions paired venture engineers with Lockheed Martin specialists to identify potential routes into defense applications.
Lockheed Martin is using venture investment to supplement its internal research and traditional development programs. The model provides a faster process for identifying, assessing and integrating technologies developed by startups.
The company said smaller technology businesses can support the next generation of defense systems when paired with its engineering experience. Demo Day was intended to build practical partnerships and connect startup technologies with operational requirements.
Lockheed Martin said the approach could move advances in AI, autonomy and advanced manufacturing into operational systems more quickly. It also aims to accelerate capability delivery and improve the resilience of the defense industrial base.
