Northrop Grumman to advance secure communications for U.S. Air Force with NG InSight

By Defence Industry Europe

Northrop Grumman has been awarded a follow-on contract to enhance secure communications for the U.S. Air Force. The company will deliver NG InSight, an advanced software-programmable processor designed to improve connectivity and adaptability in dynamic mission environments.

Under this contract, the U.S. Air Force will continue testing NG InSight to assess its potential role in the DAF Battle Network, part of the Department of Defense’s Combined Joint All-Domain Command and Control (CJADC2) initiative. The system aims to enable seamless, real-time data-sharing across multiple domains to enhance operational decision-making.

Northrop Grumman will demonstrate how NG InSight’s open architecture allows third-party technology integration, ensuring long-term growth, sustainability, and adaptability. Additionally, the company will provide engineering support to connect the system with existing Air Force communication networks, ensuring functionality and compatibility.

Jenna Paukstis, Vice President and General Manager of Networked Information Solutions at Northrop Grumman, emphasised the importance of secure and reliable communication in modern warfare. She stated that NG InSightâ„¢ enables faster decision-making across mission scenarios while ensuring warfighters can share critical information securely.

This award follows a successful demonstration under the Software Programmable Open Systems Compliant (SPOC) contract, where NG InSight connected with a ground station via advanced waveforms in a live over-the-air test. The new contract represents the next step in developing a networked ecosystem that integrates cybersecurity, advanced networking, and reconfigurable communication solutions.

NG InSight offers a scalable and adaptable approach to connectivity, ensuring the U.S. Air Force remains at the forefront of modern battlespace communications. With its open-system architecture, the technology is set to play a vital role in the future of secure, high-speed military connectivity.
