A total of at least 24 NEMO mortar systems will be procured under the agreement. This partnership underscores the commitment of both companies to enhance Hungary’s armoured vehicle capabilities with modern and reliable defence technology.
The Patria NEMO is a turreted 120 mm mortar system that offers fully automated fire control and semi-automatic loading. It is uncrewed, lightweight, and designed to deliver rapid and accurate fire support, both direct and indirect, in various combat environments.
Rheinmetall successfully completed trial integration of the NEMO system into the Lynx platform in September 2024. Testing confirmed full technical compatibility and demonstrated how the system enhances the vehicle’s operational flexibility.
Commenting on the development, Patria stated: “This agreement further strengthens our position as a trusted partner in delivering future-proof fire support systems to European defence programmes.” The company emphasised the NEMO’s combination of mobility, protection, and automation as key to supporting modern mission requirements.
Rheinmetall highlighted the strategic value of the collaboration, noting: “The integration of Patria’s NEMO turret system into the Lynx KF41 marks a major step forward in meeting Hungary’s operational needs.” The company added that the partnership ensures cutting-edge capability for Hungary’s armed forces.
The ZRINYI programme is a major component of Hungary’s broader military modernisation efforts. By incorporating advanced systems like Patria NEMO into its fleet, Hungary aims to improve its responsiveness and effectiveness in contemporary defence scenarios.
This supply agreement further strengthens European industrial collaboration in the defence sector. It also reflects a shared objective to deliver scalable, high-performance technologies tailored to national requirements within the NATO framework.
