Poland’s Homar-K multiple rocket launcher system achieved a record live-fire result during the allied Baltic Shield exercise, according to an announcement by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz and the General Command of the Polish Armed Forces. A CGR-080 missile fired from the system successfully struck a target at a distance of 79.6 kilometres.

The firing confirmed the capabilities of the Polish-configured Homar-K system, which is based on South Korea’s Chunmoo multiple rocket launcher. The system is one of the major examples of defence industrial cooperation between Poland and the Republic of Korea.

The Homar-K programme includes deliveries of modern rocket artillery systems to the Polish Armed Forces. It also covers industrial cooperation, technology transfer and the development of local expertise in production, integration and support of rocket systems.

The Polish version of Homar-K combines Korean launcher technology with components and solutions provided by Poland’s defence industry. These include contributions from Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa and WB Group.

The Baltic Shield exercise is being conducted jointly by the armed forces of Poland and Denmark in the area of Bornholm and the wider Baltic Sea region. The drills include land, maritime and air operations focused on strengthening security in the strategically important Baltic area.

The exercise is intended to improve responses to both conventional and hybrid threats. It also highlights the role of Polish rocket artillery systems operating alongside allied forces.

According to the announcement, the firing demonstrated the growing importance of Polish rocket systems in supporting NATO interoperability and deterrence on the alliance’s eastern flank. The exercise also showed the ability of Polish artillery units to operate in a multinational environment while maintaining high system readiness.
