The Qatari Air Force, Al-Quwwat Al-Jawiyyah Al-Amiriyyah Al-Qatariyyah, has confirmed the acquisition of 12 additional Eurofighter Typhoon multi-role combat aircraft. This purchase is part of Qatar’s broader investment in enhancing its defence capabilities and strengthening ties with the United Kingdom.

Under a prior agreement from December 2017, valued at GBP 6 billion, Qatar had already ordered 24 Typhoons.

The jets, manufactured by BAE Systems at its Warton facility, are being delivered gradually, with the final two from the initial order expected to arrive by the end of 2025.

The new order secures additional work for BAE Systems and extends production timelines at the British factory.

Qatar’s air force operates a diverse fleet of advanced multi-role combat aircraft, including 36 Dassault Rafale DQ/EQ jets and 48 Boeing F-15QA Ababil fighters, with an option for 36 more.
