Saab has launched Sirius Compact L24R, a fixed-panel passive electronic warfare sensor designed for strategic national security applications. The company unveiled the system at the AOC EW Europe symposium in Helsinki.

The new sensor is the latest addition to Saab’s Sirius Compact R-ESM family. It is designed for fixed installation on masts or existing infrastructure and can detect, track, classify and localise radar emissions from threats including fighter aircraft, surveillance radars and surface vessels.

“The new Sirius Compact sensor, L24R, is a welcome extension to the existing tactical Sirius Compact R-ESM portfolio, with a sensor built specifically for persistent, fixed-site surveillance, offering wide area strategic coverage,” said Carl-Johan Bergholm, head of Saab’s business area Surveillance.

Saab said Sirius Compact L24R can support both fixed and mobile deployments. Its small and modular design is intended to allow rapid installation and integration into networked environments.

The system operates autonomously and continuously processes intelligence data. Saab said the sensor does not store sensitive information locally.

The Sirius Compact family consists of modular, lightweight and passive electronic warfare sensors. The systems are designed for silent detection, classification and tracking of radar and communication signals.
