By Defence Industry Europe

Austrian drone manufacturer Schiebel has been awarded a new multi-year service contract with the European Maritime Safety Agency (EMSA) for its CAMCOPTER S-100 Unmanned Air System (UAS). This marks Schiebel’s third consecutive tender win with EMSA, reinforcing its pivotal role in emission monitoring and maritime surveillance operations across Europe.

The contract provides Remotely Piloted Aircraft Services (RPAS) to support EU member states in various missions. Spanning up to four years, it includes two fixed years and an optional two-year extension. Schiebel first partnered with EMSA in 2018 and has since demonstrated consistent performance, logging over 1,780 deployment days across countries including Croatia, France, Denmark, and Germany.

Deployed on land and aboard ships, the CAMCOPTER® S-100 excels in both day and night operations. It supports maritime surveillance, search and rescue, oil spill detection, and emission monitoring to ensure compliance with International Maritime Organisation (IMO) sulphur content regulations. The S-100’s capability to hover and carry payloads up to 50 kg makes it uniquely suited for these demanding tasks.
