India has signed a contract with France to acquire 26 Rafale Marine fighter aircraft worth 630 billion rupees ($7.4 billion) for its navy, the Indian defence ministry announced on Monday. The signing took place following the conclusion of an Inter-Governmental Agreement between India and France, with the contract signed in the presence of the Chairman and CEO of Dassault Aviation, Éric Trappier.

India’s Ministry of Defence said on 12 February that the government’s Defence Acquisition Council had cleared the purchase of 114 Dassault Rafale combat aircraft from Dassault Aviation for 3.25 trillion rupees, or around €30.2 billion.
