The new equipment strengthens cockpit connectivity and ensures secure communications for trainer aircraft operating in demanding environments. The contract also reinforces the long-standing partnership between Pilatus and Thales and highlights their shared commitment to innovation in military aviation.
Pilatus selected the system for its ability to meet military user requirements while providing greater flexibility and reliability than traditional technologies. According to the company, the solution can adapt to multiple operational scenarios while maintaining robust performance during complex missions.
Thales’s radio management system complies fully with military standards, allowing integration with a wide range of mission systems and operational environments. The system is designed for mission-critical applications and provides uninterrupted communications even under challenging conditions.
The technology is also intended to support a broad range of operational needs, from training missions to more demanding tactical operations. This adaptability allows operators to adjust communication capabilities as operational requirements evolve.
The programme also reflects Thales’s expanded capabilities in cockpit connectivity and secure communications. The company strengthened its position in this sector through the acquisition of Cobham Aerospace Communications in April 2024.
Pilatus’s decision to adopt the system demonstrates confidence in Thales’s expertise in avionics and advanced communications technologies. The collaboration between the two companies’ engineering teams played a key role in tailoring the system to the programme’s specific needs.
“Pilatus Aircraft Ltd’s and Thales’s engineering teams worked very closely together to develop the radio management system most suited to this programme. Together, we have come up with a system offering a high-level of efficiency, which will enable these aircraft to carry out extremely demanding missions,” said Nicolas Bonleux, Vice-President, Aerospace Communications, Thales.
