A significant portion of these orders stems from Theon’s inclusion in the German Future Soldier Programme (IdZ), where it will provide its newly launched Heads-Up Display system, THEA. This order, combined with additional options worth EUR 95.5 million, underscores the company’s growing influence in the European defence market.
The German Bundestag approved the IdZ procurement on 29 January 2025, with Rheinmetall Electronics GmbH designated as the prime contractor. A formal contract was signed on 6 February 2025 between BAAIN (Federal Office of Bundeswehr Equipment, Information Technology and In-Service Support) and Rheinmetall, with Theon Sensors S.A. as the largest supplier in the programme.
Theon’s Heads-Up Display system is part of its A.R.M.E.D. product line, which expands the company’s offerings beyond its traditional night vision solutions. The successful inclusion of this technology in the German programme highlights its commercial appeal and potential for further international adoption.
The company anticipates that the options tied to these orders will be fully exercised, with first deliveries expected to take place in 2026. The IdZ programme is expected to serve as a key reference point for future defence initiatives in other nations, opening additional market opportunities for Theon.
Philippe Mennicken, Business Development Director at Theon, stated that the company has started the year on a strong note, carrying forward the momentum from 2024. He emphasised that Theon’s expansion beyond night vision technology is a strategic move that is likely to drive future growth.
Theon is currently participating in further tenders with its latest product range and expects to announce additional contracts soon. These developments are likely to diversify the company’s revenue streams and enhance its market position in the defence technology sector.
The company will release its preliminary financial results for FY 2024 on 14 February 2025, providing further insights into its overall performance. With operations in over 71 countries, including 26 NATO members, Theon continues to expand its footprint in the global defence market.
