The order follows 91 trucks ordered last month. Those vehicles were funded by $47 million in 2026 defense appropriations.
The two recent orders now cover 208 trucks. Their combined value exceeds $84 million, Mack Defense said.
The purchases fall under a five-year contract awarded in June 2025. That agreement covers up to 450 trucks.
The contract ceiling is up to $221.8 million. Mack Defense remains the prime contractor for the program.
The M917A3 is based on the Mack Granite commercial truck. Production takes place in Allentown, Pennsylvania.
Mack Defense builds the trucks at the Mack Experience Center. The site uses a dedicated Heavy Dump Truck production line.
The company opened that line in 2021. It followed a $6.5 million investment.
The facility draws on Mack’s Lehigh Valley Operations workforce. That main plant is located in Macungie, Pennsylvania.
The Army uses the trucks for construction and infrastructure work. Missions include airfields, roads, landing strips and supply facilities.
The trucks also support motor pool construction and maintenance. They can be used during disaster relief operations.
That role matters for the National Guard. Guard units often support storm and flood response.
The M917A3 includes heavier-duty rear axles. It also has all-wheel drive.
Mack Defense added increased suspension ride height. The truck also includes other ruggedized military features.
The vehicles include anti-lock braking systems. They also feature modern control interfaces.
Active safety systems are included in the design. The configuration reflects U.S. military operating requirements.
Derik Beck, senior director of sales and marketing, thanked the Army. He also cited the Army National Guard’s support.
“We are deeply appreciative of the U.S. Army and Army National Guard’s continued trust in Mack Defense and the M917A3 Heavy Dump Truck program,” Beck said.
The additional order keeps production moving in Pennsylvania. It also extends a military truck program built on commercial manufacturing.
For the Army, the order supports domestic engineering capacity. It also adds vehicles for infrastructure and emergency missions.
For Mack Defense, the award strengthens the M917A3 line. It also confirms continued demand under the 2025 contract.
