The integration of the AGM-158C LRASM will enhance the F-16’s ability to engage maritime targets, providing a strategic advantage in countering potential threats, particularly from larger naval forces such as China’s expanding fleet. This upgrade builds upon the existing integration of AGM-158A/B Joint Air-to-Surface Standoff Missiles (JASSM) with the F-16, a capability already available to export customers, including Poland.
Currently, the AGM-158C LRASM is operational on the B-1B Lancer strategic bomber and the F/A-18E/F Super Hornet multirole fighter. Additionally, efforts are underway to integrate the missile with the Boeing P-8A Poseidon maritime patrol aircraft, the Lockheed Martin F-35 Lightning II, and the Boeing F-15E/EX Eagle.
Some F-16C/D aircraft in service with certain operators are already equipped with the Boeing AGM-84 Harpoon anti-ship missile, demonstrating the platform’s capacity for maritime strike missions.
