The move is expected to accelerate the delivery of armoured vehicles to Ukrainian forces, which are already using Roshel models in combat operations. By producing them locally, Ukraine aims to strengthen its defence capabilities while also boosting its domestic economy.
Herman Smetanin, Ukraine’s Minister for Strategic Industries, highlighted the broader significance of this agreement. He stated that integrating Western technology into Ukraine’s defence industry would enhance production speed and help the country become more embedded in the defence-industrial base of allied nations.
Oleh Hulyak, CEO of UDI, emphasised the importance of localising Western armoured vehicle production. He noted that this partnership demonstrates Ukraine’s ability to adapt its manufacturing capabilities while continuing to develop its own tanks and armoured combat vehicles.
The combination of Western and Ukrainian armoured technology is expected to provide a solid foundation for Ukraine’s defence forces. As the country continues to strengthen its military-industrial complex, joint ventures like this one will play a crucial role in ensuring sustained support for frontline operations.
