Patria has signed a new agreement with the Finnish Defence Forces Logistics Command for the procurement of the first pre-series 6x6 heavy armoured personnel carrier. The deal, disclosed via social media, marks a significant milestone in the ongoing international Common Armoured Vehicle System (CAVS) programme.

Under the terms of the agreement, Patria will supply one pre-series 6×6 vehicle along with 20 remote weapon stations from Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace. Additionally, the contract includes an option for up to 18 more vehicles, indicating potential further collaboration between Patria and the Finnish Defence Forces.

The CAVS programme, launched in 2020, is a collaborative effort involving Finland, Latvia, Sweden, and Germany, with around 700 Patria 6×6 vehicles already ordered. The programme has garnered international interest, showcasing the versatility and capability of Patria’s armoured vehicles.

Patria’s 6×6 vehicle builds on the legacy of the company’s iconic armoured wheeled vehicles, which have been deployed in peacekeeping and crisis management missions worldwide for several decades. The new 6×6 model is designed to be modular and high-performance while remaining simple, robust, and cost-effective, making it suitable for large-scale deployment.

Key features of the Patria 6×6 include modern protection systems, high mobility, and a modular design that allows for various mission-specific configurations. The vehicle offers STANAG level 2 ballistic and mine protection, optimized for troop transport and combat support roles. It also boasts a high payload capacity, enabling the integration of enhanced STANAG level 4 protection on different variants.

The Patria 6×6 can carry up to 10 soldiers in the rear cabin, plus a crew of two (driver and commander) in the front. All personnel and their equipment are securely housed within the protected hull, designed to support 72-hour mission requirements. The vehicle features continuous all-wheel drive and front axle steering, with an optional amphibious capability for water crossings and amphibious landings.

The procurement of the pre-series 6×6 vehicle and weapon stations underscores Patria’s commitment to providing state-of-the-art protected troop transport solutions. With its high level of protection, unique mobility, and advanced technology, the Patria 6×6 is poised to meet the rigorous demands of modern military operations.
