According to IAI, this naval test adds to dozens of successful trials recently conducted across India’s Navy, Army, and Air Force. It follows a separate successful trial carried out earlier this month by the Indian Army, demonstrating the system’s wide-ranging effectiveness across the country’s tri-services.
Barak MRSAM is the product of a collaborative development effort involving companies from both Israel and India. The system delivers a comprehensive, multi-layered air defence solution, equipped with cutting-edge technology tailored to counter modern aerial threats.
The system integrates several advanced components, including a multi-mission radar, command and control system, mobile launchers, and interceptors capable of engaging targets at ranges of up to 70 kilometres. When installed on naval vessels, Barak MRSAM provides optimised area defence and operational flexibility in maritime environments.
It offers proven protection against a wide array of threats, such as ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). Its deployment across India’s defence forces reflects its versatility and reliability under varied operational conditions.
Boaz Levy, President and CEO of IAI, stated: “The success of the trials further strengthens Barak MRSAM’s position as one of the world’s top air defense systems and highlights the depth of the strategic partnership between Israel and India.”
