The company said the customer expanded from a six-figure Early Access program to meet growing demand for real-time space-based tactical intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance capabilities. The transition was supported by incremental validation of mission value and integration into operational workflows.
The contract award comes after BlackSky announced general availability of its Gen-3 very high-resolution imagery services. This followed the commissioning of its fourth next-generation satellite, enabling expanded global coverage.
“With four Gen-3s on orbit, BlackSky is seeing growing momentum and rapid adoption of Gen-3 services from new and existing customers as we enter our next phase of growth with increasingly more international customers validating operational utility through successful pilot programs then quickly scaling up to support their long-term mission critical needs,” said Brian O’Toole, Chief Executive of BlackSky.
“This contract represents BlackSky’s single largest annual Assured contract to date as we continue to successfully perform against our international land-and-expand strategy and provide strong revenue visibility in our high-margin, space-based intelligence and AI services business,” he added.
BlackSky said its Assured subscription model is designed to meet the requirements of military and intelligence organisations, offering prioritised tasking, guaranteed data collection and rapid delivery timelines. The service focuses on providing secure and reliable access to critical intelligence data.
“With latency as an operational priority, our customer required a true tactical ISR framework capable of matching the sophistication and speed of their day-to-day mission. Assured delivers reliable, secure and dedicated access to advanced Gen-3 capabilities exactly where and when it matters most. This reliability along with the unmatched ease of access to data and Gen-3 performance were the primary drivers behind the expanded commitment,” O’Toole said.
The company said it was able to integrate new satellite capacity into customer operations within a short timeframe. Within one week of launching its fourth Gen-3 satellite in early March, BlackSky said it achieved general availability of its imaging services.
BlackSky said the contract includes immediate access to 35-centimetre resolution imagery through its Spectra platform. The platform enables users to task various imagery types and apply AI-enabled analytics for detecting vehicles, aircraft and vessels.
The company said its Gen-3 satellites deliver high-resolution imagery capable of capturing fine details, improving analytical accuracy. It added that its vertically integrated capabilities, including satellite design, manufacturing and software development, support growing global demand for on-demand and assured intelligence services.
